Algebra 1

Last year, I provided two Algebra 1 summer sessions and helped many students to successfully pass algebra1 qualification test at rigorous schools. But due to tight schedule, I am sorry that I don't have bandwidth to offer algebra 1 this summer. If you are interested, you could enroll to algebra 1 fall semester 2025 -- 2026

This course introduces fundamental algebraic operations and their applications. It will help students to build up solid algebraic foundation and enhance their logic derivations.

Our syllabus is tailored and well designed to deliver the most efficient and the best quality summer study. The daily test contains not only the basic arithmetic training but also creative applications to challenge student to develop and enhance their logical derivation abilities. We combine traditional algebra 1 content (based on Harker School's textbook) and challenging yet interesting application problems from AOPS or AMC.

Enriched Geometry

Summer Session II (Live Zoom and In Person)

M,T,W,Th,F,Sat 5PM -- 6:45 PM (PST)
7/14
/2025 — 8/2/2025
(Total 18
 lessons)

This course in Euclidean Geometry introduces geometry to students as a deductive reasoning and problem-solving course. Geometry plays an essential role in developing students' logical reasoning and boosting their visualizing spatial skills.

Our syllabus is tailored and well designed to deliver the most efficient and the best quality summer study. Our summer teaching materials covers the critical geometric topics. The daily test contains not only the basic deductive reasoning problems to practice the theorems but also the challenging problems from AOPS and related past years AMC problems.

The goals of this summer course are for students to:

-- Develop and enhance skills in making logical conclusions.

-- Develop and improve visual spatial skills.

-- Be able to write narrative paragraph proofs and two-column proofs.

-- Be able to solve geometric problems with auxiliary figures.

-- Be able to list properties of special geometric elements and apply them for solving geometric problems.

-- Be able to construct geometric figures using a straight-edge and compass.

-- Enhance spatial concept by drawing and solving problems on platonic solid.

More information about this course:

1. Will cover as many as 12 chapters

2. Students will have daily test

3. Daily homework and study time is typically about 2--3 hours.

4. Due to time limit, we cover the critical topics but not every single details. We will make sure the efficient           study is based on a well designed syllabus.

Algebra 2 / Trigonometry

Summer Session I (Live Zoom Or In Person)
M,T,W,Th,F,Sat 5:00PM -- 6:45PM (PST)
6/12
/2025 — 7/3/2025
(Total 19 lessons)
Summer Session II (In Person or Zoom)
TBD

(Total 19 lessons)

Based on past years' experiences and high school's developing curriculums, our syllabus is tailored and well designed to deliver the most efficient and the best quality summer study. Our summer teaching materials contain the essential topics that are sourced from the best part of various textbooks. The daily test contains fundamental algebraic training as well as challenging problems sourced from AOPS and related past years AMC problems.

The goals of this summer course are for students to:

-- Develop further the analytical skills algebraically and graphically.

-- Improve skills in proving theorems and theorems applications.

-- Improve graphing skills with the help of functional analysis.

-- Get used to the use of TI-84 graphical calculator.

In Algebra 2 and Trigonometry, there is a critical concept that is key to every single new function we learn, and that is also the source of confusion to majority of our students. We will prepare the students and make sure they have a solid understanding of this core concept so that they will enjoy this course throughout.

In short, this course could

1. Help students to skip Algebra 2 and Trigonometry and get them ready for taking Precalculus Honor.

2. Help students to solidify algebraic operations, get to know basic functions algebraically and graphically

(including trigonometric functions), their characteristics and their transformation. This will prepare student very

well for their upcoming algebra 2 and trigonometry class in the coming fall at school.

Precalculus Honors

Summer Session I (Live Zoom Or In Person)

M,T,W,Th,F,Sat 7:00PM -- 9:00PM(PST)
6/12/2025 — 7/3/2025
(Total 19 lessons)

This course aims to develop strong analytical skills of students who have shown mastery of basic functions and their properties (including trigonometric functions). The goals of the course are for students to:

-- Improve skills in analyzing functions (algebraically and graphically)

-- Improve skills in graphing relatively complicated functions with help of functional analysis

-- Enhance understanding of all basic functions and their composite functions

-- Deep and solid mastery of trigonometric functions and analytical trigonometry

Above is for regular PreCalculus. On top of that, we will cover the topics for PreCalculus Honor course. This additional honor topics will be able to help students get ready for AP Calculus BC.

In short, this course could:
1. Help students to skip Precalculus  Honor and prepares them for taking AP calculus BC course in the  coming fall semester.
2. Help students to preview PreCalculus Honor challenging concepts before they take this course at school.

After many years of teaching experience, our curriculum is well designed so that we are confident that we could achieve the above goals with the limited summer class time.

AP Calculus Preview

Summer Session II (In Person or Zoom)

M,T,W,Th,F,Sat 7PM -- 9PM (PST)
7/14/2025 — 8/2/2025
(Total 18 Lessons)

Lots of times, students don’t have a smooth transition from Pre Calculus to AP Calculus because of its fast pace and challenging, yet very abstract concepts in the first semester.

This preview will help students to preview the challenging concepts in single variable calculus to get ready for AP calculus, a college level calculus course in the coming fall semester.

Our summer session will certainly cover the A and B parts for AP Calculus. Based on past years experience, if our pace is too quick and we cover all A, B and C topics, students' mastery level in later stage starts to decrease. Due to strong dependency, it would lead to confusions in latter topics. So, our pace will depend on our daily test result and students' class responses. We will cover as much C parts as possible during summer session. Based on past years' experiences, we are able to cover quite a lot of topics in C.

Our class provide both in person and Zoom at same time. Besides the intensive study, we are confident that our curriculum is well designed and dynamically tailored based on each year's student body.  It would be a summer session with very high achievements.
